Nonexistent Background AHOI. Oh, but I am so clever.
1st of two commissions for a rather talented writer named *Sir-Talen, paid for in a Zelda Crest Sweater. Heeere are two fan characters from ~chaypeta's amazing webcomic Terinu. Melika aka The Red Vixen, villainous space pirate captain, has kidnapped poor Mr. Darktail there on the left and provided him with his new uniform that he will wear as her servant on her ship. And where I say servant I mean eye-candy. XD Of course, he is not at all happy about this arrangement but he has little choice about it: that handy collar about his neck is, shall we say, more than just a piece of decoration. Read their story starting here!
Commissions are probably not the best thing to experiment with, but I tried a new coloring technique. Since I was drawing two Vulpines right next to each other I thought it would be an easy way to compare. On the right I used my usual way of coloring the left is the new style I was trying. Eh, I kinda like my old way better, looking at this. :/
I shall read it NAOW! I didn't notice the collar until you pointed it out. Kind of makes the whole picture a lot cooler. o.0 I was just stoked when I saw it.
I've found it to be really hard to make the computer painterly, whenever you put brush strokes on the top, especially if they're a lighter colour, they look like they're sitting there one top of the other colours. It's pretty annoying.
love their expressions! you've incorporated you're own style and their style into the piece quite nicely, something tells me he won't be able to tolerate her for very long ;D
But yes, personally I liked it.

I actually rather like the scruffier look of you experimental colouring...I am getting that right am I?
Also, they both look good to me, but I can't color.
