WARNING: RANT AHEAD. PROCEED AT OWN RISK, AND WITH CAUTION.
So apparently today is... or rather, was National "Coming Out" Day, a day where we celebrate or at least recognize all those homosexuals who have had the courage to announce their sexual preferences to the world, and to give a small sense of courage to those who have not yet. A day when all across America, everyone throws up their hands and either screams in horror and disgust, or admiration and celebration.
Me? I merely shrug.
Hey, don't get me wrong, y'all! I'm a Christian, a Jesus Freak and proud of it. I'm straighter than a telephone pole and don't you get any other ideas. I think homosexuality is wrong (and I can show you the verse in Leviticus that says so), but get this:
I DON'T JUDGE.
Are you paying attention? Yeah? Okay, I just wanted to make sure.
I can say I love Jesus and that gay guy over there because THAT'S WHAT CHRISTIANS DO. NO, that does NOT mean that homosexuality is supported by Christ, NO, it does not mean that we turn our heads and look the other way.
WHAT IT DOES MEAN, however, is that IT IS NOT OUR PLACE TO JUDGE. It is NOT our place to tell you that if you are gay, YOU ARE GOING TO HELL AND THERE'S NO WAY YOU CAN CHANGE IT, it is NOT our place to say that you're a spawn of Satan and you're the reason the earth is a cesspit of sin and unhappiness.
That right, that power, ultimately lies with GOD, not us. This point is stressed OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN in the Bible, in SEVERAL different Gospels, by several different authors, and several times by Christ Himself.
"GUYS, that's GOD'S job, not yours, so don't worry about it!"
It IS our job, however, to love all people unconditionally, no matter what sin is present in their life. And come on now, EVERYONE has sin in their life. EVERYONE. But no one sin is greater than another. When it comes down to it, every last one of us is as dirty as the next person, and we end up looking silly when we point at each other and go: "You've got dirt on your shoes! You can't go into that big pretty mansion in the sky if you can't even decently present yourself! You'll track mud all over the floor!" when you're in the exact same condition. Spend the time cleaning your OWN shoes and LESS pointing out the dirt on others. That's the most logical thing to do!
It seems that everyone has forgotten the fact that Christ didn't really come down all human and humble like to hang out with all the spiritually clean people of the world, he came to be with the people who actually NEEDED Him, the prostitutes and the tax collectors and everyone else who really had no clue about how good things could be for them. He did NOT spend his time with them making it clear to them about how bad and awful they were about how they were going to Hell and all that, but how God LOVED THEM, and CARED FOR THEM, and WANTED THE BEST FOR THEM (Notice: God does NOT hate them, disregard them or want to punish them).
Our duties, as Christians, is to follow Christ's example.
Ultimately, people calling themselves Christians who are telling the world that this place is a sucky place to live because of one group of people who choose to do one thing over another are NOT CHRISTIANS, but people who use Christianity as an excuse to say horrible, scathing things about other people without getting into trouble.
Come on, guys. Seriously.
Huh, I kinda forgot where I was going with this.
But anyway.
I don't want to offend anybody with this journal, but I guess with a topic such as this it's pretty unavoidable. I'm just so sick and frustrated with guys who still insist to scathingly blame some kind, caring people for the condition of the world that ultimately is NOT their fault, and have the audacity left over to call themselves followers of Christ.
*sigh*
Wow, that was a lot to say about one little thing that has been bothering me every since I actually became a Christian. I suppose, to sum up this whole thing, I should just say this:
Homosexuality is wrong, but that doesn't make a person who is gay any worse or better than me, because God loves us all unconditionally, no matter what we've said and done. And heck, I've done and am still doing some very bad and awful things, no matter how Christian-like I claim myself to be.
Isn't that a nice thought?

But I will never forget the cherished words of our dear family friend Father Clark (whose ordination I got to attend.
It's always the marriage issue that REALLY gets me pickled. But yah, bravo, good topic and healthy view I would say.

Dark Souls Anthology at Indyplanet!
I agree with the whole 'your sexuality is none of my buisiness' arguement. My thoughts exactly.
I also liked the dirt on your shoes allegory. So much more origional than the mote and the beam one.

Heck all of us have sins. Some are turned to the lust side then others. I have alot of Gay and Bi friends, and when I tell them that I am a mormon, or a Latter Day Saint, they say that I am one of the nicest ones they met, most of the others are jerks to them.
